The Salida 720

A Technical 12-hour Mountain Bike Race

Of Special Note, this event is still pending permit approval from the BLM, things are looking good, however we cannot open registartion for the event until the final approval from BLM!

Okay kids here’s the skinny. This is a very technical 12 hour course that uses the trails just east of downtown Salida. The course will also use “F” street and Sacket Street. These two streets will be where the team pits and vendor expo will be set up and part of the race lap. Load in for solo and team pits is from 8:00am to 8:00pm May 4th. Solo racers will have pit space closest to the timing center. The race will begin at 7:00am and last racer to leave the timing center will be 6:00pm as the laps will take the fastest folks a little over an hour! The race is all on CINCO DE MAYO! So yes there will be beer! We have several beer sponsors. So you entry fee includes free beer all day Saturday!

The Course(s)

There will be two different courses. One for the Pro and Expert type racers and one for the sport and beginner / juniors. There will also be an elite Junior category for the more talented kids who can ride the super technical aspects of upper sand dunes! The course begins ends and laps through downtown Salida. The course uses county road (CR) 177 turns left onto (CR)176 (water tank) then left to (CR)176 down to (CR)175, Right onto (CR)175 up to the North Backbone. Where North Backbone hits (CR) 173, the pros and advanced racers turn left and climb up to the Upper sand dunes trail head, the Beginners, sport and juniors will go right on (CR) 173 down to Back bone Trail head where they’ll turn Left on to Bock bone. All riders will continue east on back bone to Sweet dreams trail and follow into Chicken Dinner trail. Where Chicken Dinner hits (CR) 177 racers will turn right and follow the two track all the way back to the turn around at the end of “F” street. Racers will lap through down town Salida via “F” street to Sacket down the boat ramp to the foot bike path to the Boat house Cantina restaurant The race will actually go through part of the Boat House Cantina restaurant and back out to ”F” street and then repeat the lap for 12 hours!


Registration opens for the Salida 720 as soon as we have approval from the BLM. We will pit up announcements on the Chocolate bunny face book page! so get ready for a very fun cinco de mayo 12 hour bike race in Salida Colorado!
